JAMES White admits reaching the FA Trophy final at Wembley would complete a remarkable couple of years at Concord Rangers.

Having already achieved promotion and Essex Senior Cup success, scoring the winning goal in the final in the process, White says walking out the tunnel at the famous stadium would be a another great day in what has been a successful two-and-a-half years at the Beach Boys.

White joined the club from Dartford at the start of the 2012/13 season, and fast became an integral member of Danny Cowley’s squad.

And he is looking forward to renewing rivalries with Hemel Hempstead Town in the second round of the FA Trophy tomorrow.

“I would love to get to Wembley,” admitted White. “We are only four games away from the final so to walk out at Wembley would be very special.

“We know Hemel Hempstead will be a tough game but we can win it. We have already won there this season and are confident we can do it again.

“We had some very good results over Christmas. I missed the game at Bromley and we turned things around in that one to get a really good result. We never give up and, despite our recent injury list, we have picked up some valuable points.”

Yet White could have left the club in the summer, after Conference Premier pair Dover Athletic and his old club Dartford came calling.

“There were quite prolonged conversations with Dover and Dartford,” said the midfielder, who has also played for Thurrock. “Dover showed an interest towards the end of last season and I met up with their manager Chris Kinnear.

“I spoke with Dan (Cowley -manager) and Ant (Smith - chairman) about it and I knew it would have to be a very good deal for me to leave. I could have doubled my wages by leaving but it wouldn’t have worked logistically and Concord Rangers is not an easy place to leave.

“That said, it is nice to get the recognition.”

“I have been at Concord for a couple of years now and it is a great environment for the players to develop. We all know the club can’t compete financially with some of the other teams but we keep surprising people and we are happy with the way it’s going.

“The team has changed over the last couple of seasons. The style of play has had to alter as we have gone up divisions and we have adapted really well, and we are a very good footballing side.

“This team is only going in one direction.”
