Great Wakering Rovers 1-2 Chatham Town
From Burroughs Park

GREAT Wakering Rovers slumped to back-to-back defeats for the first time since September as they went down 2-1 to Chatham Town.
Manager Dan Trenkel had described this game as a must win for the home side after their 2-1 reverse to Ware last weekend but they struggled to impose themselves on the game against a hard-working Chatham side.
Goals from Greg Benbow in the early exchanges and a second four minutes from time thanks to Austin Edwards gave the away side an unassailable lead.
And although Dan Trenkel scored in the dying embers of the game it was not enough for the home side, who sit 13 points above the relegation zone.
Rovers had hardly got the game underway when they found themselves a goal down.
Neat interplay saw Benbow in the clear inside the opening two minutes and he finished well past Adam Seal.
Jay Nash was working the Chatham back line well but they were unable to breach Ryan Nicholls’ goal.
The home side continued to push but were exposed at the back in the closing stages, when Edwards finished with moments remaining.
Rovers pulled a goal back in the final moments, and it was Trenkel who got the goal, converting after his penalty had been saved.
The hosts will be looking to return to form at Waltham Abbey next weekend.
Great Wakering Rovers: Seal, Pugsley, Kent, Smith, Skeels (Trenkel), Hepburn, Slater (Worrell), Ranger, Johnson (Radley), Nash, Strickland
