BOWERS & Pitsea made it 10 wins in a row with derby day success over struggling rivals Southend Manor.

A brace from Rob Whitnell and a goal from Luke Wilson helped Bowers to a 3-1 win over Manor, with a late goal from Aaron Baldwin only a consolation.

Rob Small’s team have been in imperious form in recent weeks and have now taken 30 points from 30 in the league, as they maintain a late push for promotion.

Bowers took an early lead and it was an emphatic goal from Wilson – the defender volleying home from Martin Llewellyn’s corner.

Lawrence Priddle brought down Lewis Manor in the penalty area and Whitnell stepped up to double Bowers’ lead.

That was the score at half-time and it could have been more when they hit the crossbar and Manor saw a goal disallowed for offside.

Manor crossed for Whitnell to make it 3-0 soon after before Baldwin scored for the hosts late on.

Bowers are 7th after the win, while Manor sit in 18th, above second bottom Greenhouse London on goal difference.

Hullbridge Sports and Basildon United saw their fixtures postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
