BOWERS & Pitsea romped to an 8-1 win over Newham to climb to within a win of securing second place in the Essex Senior League.

A hat-trick for top scorer Lewis Manor helped Rob Small’s team to the thumping victory, with the other goals coming from Luke Wilson, Vinny Durrant, Luka Frankis and a brace from Jamie Salmon.

The three points means Bowers need only one more win to secure second place, with the team currently occupy that position – Barking – having already finished their season.

Bowers monstrous goal difference (+95) means another win would be enough to draw them level on points with Barking, although they want to win both their final two games.

Southend Manor also ended their season on a high with a 2-1 win over Basildon United.

Manor have endured a difficult season, with Tuesday night’s win only their eighth all season.

Leading 2-0 at the half-time interval, Bees showed glimpses of getting back into the game when player/ manager Craig Gillam halved the deficit.

But they couldn’t find an equaliser and Manor claimed their second win over Bees in three weeks.
