ESSEX SENIOR LEAGUE: Bowers & Pitsea are hoping to end a tremendous Essex Senior League campaign with promotion this weekend as they host London Bari.

Rob Small’s team have broken record after record this term, and will have secured second-place with a win against Stansted last night (after the Echo went to press).

Should Bowers have won that match, they can end the season on 92 points – having accrued 36 more points this term than their previous best campaign in 2007/08.

Indeed, Bowers are likely to surpass their points total this term than in their last three seasons combined and have already netted 130 times this season, following Tuesday’s 8-1 win over Newham.

This was before their match against Stansted although that is already double the amount in their best ever goal-scoring campaign in 2006/07.

Bowers can still win promotion to the Ryman One North as runners-up however, having already fulfilled the ground requirements for step four football, with all step-five league champions unexpected to make the grade.

Second-placed teams can go up on a points per game ratio, and should Bowers reach 92 points they will have accrued 2.4 points per game, they stand a real chance of promotion.

However, relegated sides from the Ryman One North may be reprieved instead of awarding step five sides promotions – scuppering Bowers’ plan.

Hullbridge Sports have enjoyed a fine season, and will finish the campaign in fourth – their best ever finish in the division.

Sports beat Tower Hamlets 3-0 on Wednesday to cross the 70-point boundary for the first time, and they wrap up their season at Lower Road on Saturday, against Greenhouse London.

Mark Bliss’s team have won five of the last seven games to make it another memorable campaign.

Basildon United have had a mixed season, after a turbulent start, and bring the curtain down on their season at Takeley.

However, Bees have had a wretched end to the season, having won only one of their last 12 matches.

They take on the side two places above them but a win will see them climb a league position and finish in 12th, although manager Craig Gillam confirmed they have a host of players missing through injury.

Southend Manor wrapped up their season on, Tuesday, with a 2-1 win over rivals Basildon. The win lifted them to third from bottom.

However, Greenhouse London can climb above them with a win in their final game against Hullbridge.
