THE PREVIEW: Canvey travel to Leatherhead looking for their first win of the season.

Two draws in their last two league games have put the Gulls back on track but defeat in the League Cup on Tuesday against Grays Athletic made it four matches without success at the start of the new campaign.

The home side Leatherhead are notoriously strong at their ground, and sit fifth after a good opening to the season.

Beating Kingstonian 3-0 set down a market but two away defeats in the last week in league and cup mean they will be happy to return to home comforts.

Three of last season’s four encounter ended in draws, with Leatherhead winning in the league encounter 1-0 in Surrey.

WHAT HE SAYS: Manager Danny Heale, said: I have spoken before about our difficult start to the season but things don’t get any easier with Grays, Billericay and Hendon coming up so we have to get on with it.

But, apart from the Dulwich game, we have looked decent and are making positive steps.

We played over an hour with 10 men last weekend so if we have our full team firing then we are confident we can go there and get a result.

FORM GUIDE: LDDL

TEAM NEWS: Canvey have a fully fit squad ahead of the match, with Lawrence Yiga the only slight doubt having returning from suspension. He has a hamstring strain although could be included in the squad.

Ashley Dumas, right, who was sent off in last weekend’s draw with Bognor Regis, will sit out next Saturday’s game against Enfield.
