GREAT Wakering Rovers striker Jay Nash says he doesn’t know a thing about tomorrow’s FA Cup opponents Brantham Athletic...but says he will be going all out to book his team’s place in the next round.

Nash, 22, is set to lead the line when the side from the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division visit Burroughs Park tomorrow, but admits he will be facing an unknown quantity when the game kicks off.

The Suffolk side have had an inconsistent start to the season, while Rovers have been in terrific form, winning four of their six games in league and cup.

And Nash is confident that Rovers can continue their league form in the FA Cup as he bids to help Rovers into the first qualifying round and a home tie against Biggleswade Town.

“I don’t know a thing about Brantham Athletic,” admitted Nash. “I have heard of them before but that is as far as my knowledge goes. But by the time the game comes around we will all be focused on the goal and we all know how to get the best out of each other when we need it.

“It doesn’t matter if we are playing a team from a higher division or a lower division as we are confident in our own ability. The belief in the camp is fantastic at the moment.”

Nash has started the season slowly by his own standards, netting twice in the Ryman One North so far, after passing the 20 goal mark last term, but his team mates have been scoring for fun alongside him.

Rovers’ last five games have seen at least four goals each, with 12 in the last two, and Nash puts that down to increased fitness and a determination to play attacking football.

“We haven’t changed a lot from last season but the changes from within are significant,” he added.

“The fitness training in pre-season has put us in a really strong position where we are finishing games well, as opposed to the opposition.

“Jacob Cleaver has joined us and I have known him all my life. Having someone else up front is great for me as we link up well and know each other’s game. So hopefully that is a partnership that will continue to develop.”

Ellis Sands, Lewis Sparrow, Billy Radley, Bradley Vaughan and John Bradley are all out.

Eljay Worrell and Billy Johnson are rated 50/50.
