Eastbourne Borough 0–0 Concord Rangers

National League South

CONCORD Rangers returned to form with a battling point at Eastbourne Borough.

Concord had endured a rotten run in September, which had seen them go out of the FA Cup, and were looking for their first points in five league games.

Meanwhile, Eastbourne were looking to continue their unbeaten record against the Beach Boys since the Essex side were promoted in 2013.

Concord handed a start to on-loan Braintree man Jordan Cox, and he proved a nuisance throughout.

But it was the hosts that started the brighter, albeit without forcing Ben McNamara into action in between the Concord posts.

However, Adam Flanagan’s side hit back and were unfortunate not to take the lead - Lewis Taaffe, Steve Cawley and Cox all causing the home defence problems, with Lewis Carey forced into several terrific saves.

Boro ended the half strongly but couldn’t force a breakthrough.

Into the second-half, Concord did rustle the Boro net but the linesman’s flag put a premature halt to celebrations.

Gavin McCallum, who scored two blistering goals at the Aspect Arena last season, came close at the death, only for McNamara to beat his shot away.
