ESSEX Cricket Club has announced Ryan ten Doeschate and Aron Nijjar have signed new contracts at the Essex County Ground.

Limited Overs Captain ten Doeschate has renewed signed a deal that will keep him at the County until the end of the 2017 season, extending a career which began at The Essex County Ground in 2003.

And Nijjar has followed suit, signing his first professional deal until the end of the2017 campaign.

Ten Doeschate was appointed Limited Overs Captain at the beginning of the 2014 season, and has led the side to four consecutive white ball quarter-finals.

One of Essex’s most consistent performers, he averaged 40.66 in first-class cricket over 119 matches, 40.10 in List A matches and 28.29 in Twenty20 cricket.

And he says he has signed on to repay the fans and win a trophy.

“I am delighted to be staying at this wonderful club,” he said. “Essex gave me my chance in County Cricket, and I want more than anything to keep repaying them for their faith with a trophy and promotion.

“We’ve underachieved as a group this year and we will be working even harder to improve next year.”

Left arm spinner Nijjar has signed his first professional contract with the Club after an impressive summer.

The 21-year-old academy product made his first class debut against Leicestershire and has made nine appearances in total, with Essex quick to snap up his signature until at least the end of the 2017 season.

The highlight of his career to date was when bowling former Australian Captain Michael Clarke, during the Tourist match in July.

Nijjar said: “Building on my summer trial, I am delighted to have signed a two year professional contract. I have been with the Club since I was 9 years old, and I am excited about the opportunities still to come with this team.”
