THE PREVIEW: Great Wakering lost their first match under manager Gary Ansell last time out but will be hoping to stretch their unbeaten league away record under him against Wroxham.

Rovers lost 2-1 to Maldon & Tiptree last Saturday and 3-0 to East Thurrock United in the Essex Senior Cup on Tuesday, but may fancy their chances against a team who have failed to hit the heights of last season.

Wroxham lost just 13 games last year as they finished five points outside the play-offs, but they have already been on the losing side nine times this term after just 17 games.

Both away matches under Ansell so far have ended 2-2, but he wants more this time around as his team travel to the far side of Norfolk.

WHAT HE SAYS: Rovers manager Ansell said: “I don’t know a lot about Wroxham but we played them earlier in the season and were very unlucky to lose the game 4-3 so we have nothing to be afraid of.

“We played well against Great Wakering but were just lacking in terms of our finishing and we were making too many mistakes as well.

“But the overall levels since I have taken over have been excellent and I am really pleased. So I want more of the same tomorrow.”
