BOWERS & Pitsea and Basildon United secured their progress in the FA Vase with impressive victories, although it was yet more frustration for Hullbridge Sports who saw their game postponed.

Bowers were 3-2 winners against Flackwell Heath at the Len Salmon Stadium, thanks to Lewis Manor, Julian Simon-Parson and a winning goal from Dan Trenkel, his first for the club.

Manor had given the hosts the lead when a cross from Dan Trenkel found Rob Whitnell and his header across goal was finished by the striker.

Chris Hurst got the equaliser for Flackwell but Bowers went back in front before long. Trenkel was again involved as his effort was cleared off the line but Simon-Parson flicked home superbly as the ball dropped to him.

Trenkel got what proved to be the decisive goal, as Trenkel flicked on a Vinny Durrant free-kick and beyond the goalkeeper.

Flackwell got a goal back but it wasn’t enough.

Basildon United were thumping 7-1 winners against Northampton Sileby Rangers at the Longman Motors Stadium to book a third round spot.

Lindisipho Mytanda netted a superb hat-trick to help the Bees qualify, although all his goals came in the second-half.

It was Brad Hunter that got the ball rolling after just three minutes with a neat finish, although the pick of the goals arguably came after the half hour mark.

Ben Sartain crashed home a long range drive to make it 2-0, with Jordan Williams making it 3-0 two minutes later.

The visitors did get on the score sheet moments after the interval to send a few jitters among the home fans but Mytanda then took over as he scored an 11 minute treble to take the score line to 6-1.

Ben Clarke scored the final goal to complete the rout.

Hullbridge Sports will have to travel to Norwich United on Tuesday night after their initial clash was postponed after a pitch inspection.

Sports suffered the same fate last year when their match with Sholing was re-arranged, meaning they will travel to Norwich on Tuesday.

Southend Manor were beaten 3-0 by Wadham Lodge in the Essex Senior League, after they were knocked out of the FA Vase earlier in the competition.
