Bath City 0–1 Concord Rangers

From Twerton Park

National League South

JAMES White’s first-half free-kick was enough to hand Concord Rangers all three points at managerless Bath City.

The midfielder’s brilliant intervention proved to be enough for the Beach Boys, helping them tp their first three points in the National League South for two months.

Concord started the brighter and could have taken the lead early on when the ball dropped to Max Cornhill in a promising position but he could only curl wide of the post.

Concord handed a first league start to recent addition Mike Thalassitis, and he played a key role in the opener.

It was one of the Beach Boys old hand’s that made the first impression on the game. A free-kick was won by Thalassitis and White took charge, sending a delightful strike beyond the goalkeeper and in off the far post.

Nick McCootie shot off target as the home side came back into the game, and the same player came even closer soon after when his strike bounced off the top of the crossbar.

Andy Watkins was next to come close but he was unable to get on the end of a well-constructed team move.

Watkins was kept out by Ben McNamara in the away goal, who enjoyed a fine afternoon between the posts, helping Concord to a hard-fought victory.
