Harrow Borough 2–1 Billericay Town

BILLERICAY Town lost their first league match since October as they missed a host of chances in a narrow 2-1 defeat at Harrow Borough.

Billericay had only played one match so far this year due to a number of rain postponements, but that was still one more than their opponents.

But Craig Edwards’ side didn’t look like a side without game time, as they made a fine start.

The first goal should have come after six minutes when on-loan Braintree Town striker Jordan Cox was played through but the powerful forward could only scuff an effort with Mike Fondop unable to convert the follow-up.

But Cox made amends shortly afterwards. Put in by Quentin Monville, the striker buried his strike across Brendan Hazlett in the home goal.

Billericay were creating plenty of chances for Cox, and he missed another guilt-edged chance as he shot wide when well placed. And that miss came back to haunt Town.

A cross was played in and Lewis Driver climbed above Ibrahim Diallo and nodded down past Jack Giddens.

And it went from bad to worse just moments into the second-half. Spencer McHall scored Harrow’s second of the afternoon, although all the credit must go to Driver, whose fine approach play made it easy for McHall.

Marc Charles-Smith hit the post as Harrow continued to turn the screw, although Fondop could have levelled when he met Ola Williams’ centre, but Hazlett made the save.

The stopper denied the unusually subdued Teddy Nesbitt as the clock ticked down, with Town tasting defeat for the first time in any competition since the start on November.
