BASILDON United manager has praised Alfie Lindfield for turning down the offer of higher-league football to remain at the Essex Senior League club.

The Bees visit Wadham Lodge tomorrow, and Lindfield will travel after rejecting a move to Ryman North side Aveley.

Basildon were somewhat surprisingly beaten 1-0 by struggling Burnham Ramblers this week and manager Aaron Bloxham will expect a response come tomorrow afternoon.

Wadham Lodge, so impressive in their first season at this level last term, have struggled this time around so far and have won just two of their opening 10 matches to date.

“We need to bounce back,” said Bloxham. “John-Joe Slater is out but Alfie Lindfield has chosen to turn down Aveley and remain here which is obviously great for us.”

Midfielder Taylor Sinfield is rated as 50/50 for the clash by Bloxham.

Southend Manor welcome Ilford in what looks to be an evenly-balanced clash.

Manor have won five of their nine matches while Ilford have just six games under their belt so far due to a number of circumstances, although they are unbeaten to date.

And manager Stuart Marshall is looking to add to his squad ahead of the clash, with a Ryman North defender as well as a striker close to joining.

Hullbridge Sports will be looking to build on their Essex Senior Cup win against Clacton in the week, although they are playing a strong side at Lower Road in Waltham Forest.

Forest have won seven of their eight games and are playing catch up in the division, with Sports already having played seven more games than tomorrow’s opponents.

Sports are without manager Rob Hodgson who is injured, along with Adam Rooke and Matt Brinklow.
