l RUNDOWN: Great Wakering Rovers’s search for consistency goes on as they look to return to winning ways against a strong Cheshunt side at Burroughs Park tomorrow.

Wakering have not won back-to-back matches all season and fell just short in Tuesday’s match against Brightlingsea Regent.

However, tests don’t get much harder than Cheshunt, who sit second in the table following an impressive recent run of form.

They have won their last four games and will be confident of making it five against their 17th placed opponents.

l SKIPPER'S VIEW: Wakering captain John Easterford said: “It is a difficult one. Cheshunt are one of the teams looking to win the league with the calibre of strikers they have.

"We know what we are coming up against. Skelts (Nick Skelton) and I have played together for a long time and know each other's games inside out. We need to stop that pressure building in the first place and we need other areas to combat that.

"We want to control games and need to defend. There are positives but the problem we have is we bring in good players like Liam Nash or Kris Newby or Leon Gordon and then those players are poached and we are back at square one.

"We need to keep hold of our best players and that makes it tough for (manager) Gary (Ansell). I would expect us to be up in the play-offs if we still had those guys.

"We have good young players and experience but we always want to add players. We will get there slowly but surely."
