BILLERICAY Town could be without eight first-team regulars as they make the trip to a rejuvenated Folkestone Invicta tonight.

Town will certainly be missing the injured Ricky Sappleton, Kam Guthmy, Quentin Monville, Luke Wilson, Ed Guarilovas and Pierre Hazet, while Gabby Adelowo is suspended and Conor Hubble is rated 50/50 because of illness.

And manager Craig Edwards says his young side, while talented players, will be up against it on their travels, with Folkestone unbeaten on home turf in the league since August 27.

“We are in bits at the moment,” he said, ahead of the Ryman Premier League clash.

“We have seven out having had four out Saturday and I was on the phone between 8am to 9pm on Sunday.

“We are threadbare at the moment and we need help at this point, so I have brought a couple of players in to plug some holes.

"Folkestone are flying at home and beat AFC Sudbury 4-2 in their last match so they are really riding a wave at the moment and it will be a big ask.

"All I ask from my boys is that every time they step out onto the pitch they give it their all which I know they will.”

Billericay drew 1-1 with Harlow Town on Saturday, leaving them ninth in the table and in the middle of a pack of eight teams separated by just two points. And Edwards was full of praise for the way his team performed in the absence of so many key personnel.

“We went with what we had and I would like to know if there is a side in our league that could lose eight first team players and then perform as well as they did against Harlow,” said Edwards.

“It was a point gained as opposed to two lost. In the second-half it was a team of young boys that were full of athleticism but we were lacking that experience.

“It was a great point in the circumstances.”
