GREAT Wakering Rovers boss Keith Wilson is happy his side are back in action against Aveley tonight.

Wakering - who are 22nd in the Ryman North standings - suffered a disappointing 3-2 against fellow strugglers Wroxham on Saturday.

And Wilson is hoping for a more ruthless display this evening.

“I’m glad we have a game so quickly after the weekend but we need to be more ruthless in both penalty areas if we’re to get anything from what is going to be a difficult game,” said Wilson.

“On Saturday I’ll be honest and admit I get it wrong with the 3-5-2 formation and once we changed it we looked much better.

“But, despite that, it was still three mistakes which gave them their goals and we can’t afford for that to continue.

“The only saving grace was that the other results went our way and we don’t find ourselves any further adrift but we have to go out there tonight and make sure we give it our all like we do in every game.”

However, Aveley will be tough opponents at Burroughs Park tonight.

Terry Spillane’s side are currently sixth in the standings with just one defeat in their last four games.

And Wilson believes they will be tough opponents tonight.

“I’ve played against Terry’s teams many times during my managerial career and his sides are always very well organised and hard to beat,” said Wilson.

“I’m expecting that again this evening.”

Wakering have no new injury concerns for tonight’s encounter but striker Jacob Cleaver is pushing for a place in the 16 man squad.
