JORDAN Chiedozie has revealed he turned down ‘ludicrous’ money from elsewhere to stay with Concord Rangers.

The in-form striker – who has scored seven goals in seven games since returning to the Beach Boys – has signed a contract to keep him at the Aspect Arena until the end of the season.

And the 22-year-old told Echosport he put pen to paper after deciding enjoying his football was far more important than his own financial gain.

“I had some ludicrous offers from other clubs which would probably have changed my life but I’m really enjoying my football again at Concord so I want to stay here,” said Chiedozie.

“I’m happy to have signed the contract and it’s good to be back playing regularly again.

“I’m very thankful to the manager and the chairman for the opportunity they have given me and things are definitely on the up.

“When I first came back I felt there wasn’t enough self belief within the team.

“But that’s definitely changed now and we’re certainly not playing like a team who are down towards the bottom of the table.

“I’m sure we will keep on working our way up an I’m looking forward to playing a part in that happening.”

Concord are currently 17th in the National South standings but have been beaten just once in their last six games.

And Chiedozie is relishing being back with Rangers, who he now admits he was wrong to leave to join Cambridge United in 2014.

“I’m honest enough to admit I made a mistake leaving Concord when I did,” said Chiedozie.

“At the time I was playing regularly in the Conference South and was scoring regularly too.

“I decided to move on but when managers see you haven’t played many games they don’t tend to put you in every week and it’s tough.

“I had a couple of trials in the summer and then went to Boreham Wood but they had already signed players in pre-season who were ahead of me.

“I then got a niggly injury before leaving and coming back to Concord.

“But I see it as a blessing in disguise now.

“I’m determined to show what I can do and keep on scoring goals.”

And the forward is also grateful to have been handed another chance by Concord.

“It wasn’t reported at the time but when I left last time it all went a bit sour,” said Chiedozie.

“I really appreciate the club taking me back and I’m determined to keep on doing well.
