CONCORD Rangers slipped back into the National League South relegation places after they went down 3-1 against Weston-super-Mare.

The Beach Boys were hopeful of building on an impressive recent record against Weston, with five straight wins under their belt against the Somerset outfit.

But they found themselves under the cosh early on and fell behind inside 10 minutes.

An attempted clearance was charged down by Brad Ash and he finished beyond loan goalkeeper Bailey Vose.

Weston were level on points with Concord ahead of play but they were the sharper side on the field.

On 23 minutes it was 2-0 as Jamie Chamberlain picked up the pieces 20 yards from goal and swept low and hard under the dive of Vose.

And a miserable first half was compounded when Gethyn Hill scored on the stroke of half time to make it 3-0.

But Concord didn’t give up and found a way back into the match inside the final 20 minutes.

Rob Girdlestone swung in a cross and Steve Cawley was on hand to turn the ball home.

Tony Stokes came off the bench on his 30th birthday with nine minutes to spare but couldn’t inspire a turnaround.
