SOUTHEND Manor remain just a point behind Essex Senior League leaders Barking after a 4-1 victory over London Bari.

Manor were impressive once again as they remain second in the standings, although they had to battle back from 1-0 down at the break.

Striker Micky Hopkins scored an excellent hat-trick, with Robbie Farrell also on target after Bari had been reduced to 10 men in the first half.

And Manor manager Stuart Marshall was pleased with his team’s work after the break.

“It is a good three points although we need to stop making games difficult for ourselves,” he said.

“The boys have been outstanding this season and have come through everything that has been thrown at them so far.”

Hullbridge Sports went down 1-0 against Waltham Forest in a tight game.

The only goal came four minutes before the interval, following a swift counter attack.

And Sports struggled to create a clear-cut chance as they searched for a way back into the match.

Luka Frankis looked the most likely but he was unable to inspire a turnaround, having climbed off the substitutes bench.

Basildon United’s match against Takeley was postponed on Friday evening because of the icy conditions.

The match will now be played on Tuesday, February 28.
