l RUNDOWN: Canvey Island face another hugely difficult Saturday encounter, with league leaders Bognor Regis Town visiting Essex.

The Gulls had shown signs of improvement in recent weeks but have been comprehensively beaten twice in their last three outings (4-0 and 5-1 defeats).

However, they will use the victory against Dulwich Hamlet in their last home match as inspiration as they aim to get the better of Bognor, who have not lost in the league since December 3.

Five wins and three draws have followed so a point would not be an unwelcome return for manager Danny Heale tomorrow.

l MANAGER’S VIEW: Gulls manager Danny Heale said: “We have to take the positives out of defeats and use them in a positive way.

“We know we can compete and do well against the best sides in this league and we will have the crowd behind us which will be important.

“We are aiming to get some points on the board. If we play like we did against Leiston but are more clinical in front of goal there is no reason we can’t do something against Bognor Regis.

“But we are fully aware of just how tough a game it will be.”
