l RUNDOWN: Great Wakering Rovers’ plight is looking increasingly more bleak in the Ryman North, and it doesn’t get any tougher than a trip to league leaders Maldon & Tiptree.

Rovers are eight points from safety in the league, while Maldon are six points clear at the top after an excellent first half to the season.

Maldon have scored 74 goals - the most in the division - and conceded 29, while Rovers have shipped 77 - a league high - and netted 29.

Manager Keith Wilson will be determined to see more fight from his team, who have conceded 23 goals in their last six games.

l MANAGER’S VIEW: Wakering boss Keith Wilson said: “We have let everyone down in the last two games and I take responsibility for that.

“We need to have a performance we can be proud of after recent times, and show a little passion whether we win, lose or draw.

“We are a bit of a laughing stock at the moment and that hurts all of us.

“It is the hardest game and if we turn up like we did against Ware and Dereham we will lose badly, so the boys must show what we have.

“We mustn’t give up.”

l TEAM NEWS: James Pugsley is out, while Jonathan Nzengo is away and goalkeeper Dylan Skinner will start for Wakering.

Ex-Wakering striker Liam Nash plays for Maldon.
