TOM Wraight hit a late winner to ensure East Thurrock United completed a 2-1 double over Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Wraight scored with two minutes to go to hand John Coevntry's team their first league win in more than three weeks.

Rocks were looking to rediscover their form from the first half of the season against the side they recorded their very first win against at this level.

And they started excellently. After an early shot went wide, they deservedly took the lead.

Left-back Josh Casey miscued a header and Sam Higgins was away. He cut back and gave Reece Harris the simplest of tap ins from several yards out.

Harris was booked following a poor late challenge but Rocks were well in control.

Wraight saw a free-kick pushed aside by goalkeeper Sam Hawes, who was keeping his team in it.

Hampton improved after the break and had several testers before drawing level.

Casey burst through and drove a shot against the post and Duncan Culley was left with the easy chance of scoring from the rebound.

Hampton were then awarded a penalty after a foul on Tom Jelley. But the same man took the kick and Lukas Lidakevicius made the save.

Wraight hit the bar from close range before making no mistake when put through one-on-one.

Hampton hit the post late on but it was to be Rocks’ day.
