GREAT Wakering Rovers were unable to hold onto a lead as they went down 3-1 against play-off chasing Cheshunt.
Jake Gordon had given the away side the lead but they were undone shortly before half-time, with two goals in the final 10 minutes ending their hopes of a point.
Rovers, who had controlled large parts of recent games, were again impressive early on but it took until six minutes before half-time for the deadlock to be broken.
A foul in the penalty area on Jon Nzengo saw Gordon step up and score for the second game in succession.
But Cheshunt couldn’t hold out, with Liam Hope plundering a leveller on the stroke of half-time.
Elliot Warren was sent off on 66 minutes and this was the catalyst Cheshunt needed to push on.
James Thomas put the hosts ahead 10 minutes from time before Jason Hallett wrapped up the win in stoppage time.
Great Wakering: Skinner, Ring, Nottage, Kee (Kasala 89’), Warren, Beale, Pethers, Evans, Gordon, Guy, Nzengo (Butterworth 65’)
