BILLERICAY Town continued their late assault on the play-off positions with an emphatic victory over struggling Hendon.
A brace for Billy Bricknell took him to 200 career goals, with Rob Swaine and Adam Cunnington also on target.
Alan Julian – looking for his first clean sheet having conceded four goals in his first two matches – made several smart saves early on, with the away side defying their lowly position in the table.
But the opening goal came against the run of play. Having been a doubt before the game through injury, Swaine picked up a loose ball and shot into the net.
Bricknell was denied before the striker did get his name on the scoresheet once again.
So clinical, Bricknell tapped home after Abs Seymour and Lewis Taaffe had combined.
Julian made another excellent stop before the two goal scorers linked up excellently for the third goal.
Swaine’s header across goal was met by Bricknell and his volley ripped into the net.
The striker had several chances to claim his hat-trick but he chose to lay the fourth goal on a plate for strike partner Cunnington.
Michael Barrington got a goal back two minutes later and only an excellent Julian save stopped Hendon closing the gap to two.
But Town closed out the match to move to within seven points of the play-offs.
Billericay Town: Julian, Diallo, Fitzsimons, Eyong, Swaine (Moore 75’), Ellul, Taaffe, Johnson, Bricknell (Layne 82’), Cunnington, Seymour
