CONCORD Rangers manager Adam Flanagan admits playing two fixtures in one weekend will be ‘different’ as he gears up for a spell that could secure their National League South status.

A key match-up down the bottom against Whitehawk follows a trip to league leaders Maidenhead United today (kick-off 3pm).

Flanagan will de desperate for a response after Concord’s 5-0 home defeat against Bath City last Saturday – a result that prompted chairman Ant Smith to offer supporters a refund.

And he admits the Beach Boys will have to make full use of their squad this bank holiday weekend.

“We have played one game a week for a while now so having two games in close proximity will be different,” he said.

“I think the players prefer playing over training so the squad will get an opportunity over Easter to feature in two matches.”

“Maidenhead will be a tough fixture but the pressure, in some respects, will all be on them.

“They will see this as a game they should be winning and for us it is a game in which we can look to achieve some redemption after a poor display at home to Bath.

“We were punished for the mistakes we made that day,” he added.

“We were physically weaker than them which lead to a couple of the goals they scored and in the final third of the pitch our play was sloppy.

“Maidenhead are five points clear of Ebbsfleet at the top of the league, they have the top scorer (Dave Tarpey with 42 goals) and they have the best home record in the division so in terms of how big the challenge is I would say it is a large one.

“However upsetting the odds is what Concord has long been about and on Friday we have to try and upset the odds once again.”

>Home supporters who attended the Bath City games are entitled to a refund or free admission for Monday’s game against Whitehawk.
