Great Wakering Rovers 1–3 Brentwood Town

Ryman North

GREAT Wakering Rovers fell to yet another defeat as their time in the Ryman North nears its conclusion, with Brentwood Town taking the points at Burroughs Park.

Town were looking to ease their relegation worries against already relegated Rovers, while Wakering were looking to end a winless run that stretched back to December 10 – 18 matches ago.

Having only picked up four points from those games, Rovers were desperate to end the season on more of a positive note in front of their own fans.

But Brentwood started well and struck the first blow.

Sixteen minutes were on the clock when Andy Freeman opened the scoring, picking up the ball after good work from Lamar Reynolds to score.

Wakering drew level three minutes before half-time, and it was from an unlikely source.

Nikki Beale sent a superb volley past Anthony Page to ensure it was all square at the break.

Town needed the points, with all the other struggling sides winning.

And they did go back in front through Reynolds. A good run by Harrison Georgiou saw him square for Reynolds who could hardly miss.

The same man added a third in injury time to wrap up the win and keep Wakering rock bottom.
