National League South
CONCORD Rangers secured their National League South status with a comprehensive victory over fellow relegation strugglers Whitehawk.
The Beach Boys are safe after Steve Cawley’s brace plus a strike from Dion Sembie-Ferris ensured an invaluable win.
The Beach Boys knew defeat in their home clash with the Hawks would leave them in real trouble at the foot of the table.
But they struck first blood inside two minutes.
Jordan Chiedozie went down in the penalty area and Cawley stroked home the resultant kick.
It was a good response from the Hawks, and they could consider themselves unfortunate not to be level.
Danny Mills saw a strike well saved by Bailey Vose, and the same man saw an acrobatic kick superbly cleared off the goal-line after 20 minutes.
Concord weathered the storm and went on to double their advantage. The Hawks lost possession in midfield, with Cawley making space on the edge of the area and finding the corner.
The home side was in total control, although they missed a golden chance to make the game safe shortly after the interval – Lucas Colovan saving well in the away goal.
The game became disjointed, but Concord didn’t mind that as they made the game safe.
On 70 minutes, Sembie-Ferris got in behind, rounded the keeper and sent his effort into an empty net.
And that was enough for Concord, who can now turn their attentions towards next season.
Concord Rangers: Vose, Girdlestone, Wyatt, Nasha, King, McKenzie, Chiedozie, White, Sembie-Ferris (Collins 83’), Cawley, Della-Verde (Topley 90')
