ADAM Flanagan says all he cares about is Concord Rangers ending the season with a positive result, as opponents Hampton & Richmond Borough look to secure an unlikely play-off place.

An FA ruling against Hungerford Town, Poole Town and Wealdstone earlier this week means victory for Hampton tomorrow would book a play-off semi-final against Ebbsfleet United.

But, following his displeasure at last weekend’s 2-2 draw against Gosport Borough, he says he couldn’t care less about the fate of Concord’s opponents and wants a committed showing to end the season.

“I wasn’t pleased with the result against Gosport last week as it was a game we should have won,” he said.

“The goals we conceded were poor and our finishing in the final third was tame to say the least.

“The announcement in the week regarding Poole, Hungerford and Wealdstone will not play a part in my team talk as I don’t care about these teams.

“I am only focused on Concord Rangers.

“As for the game itself, every player should want to win every single game they compete in and that should be all they focus on.

“No player should ever arrive and be thinking about anything except winning so I expect the players to come with that mentality.

“Hampton have something to play for as they can reach the play-offs but we do as well.

“We have to play for the pride of the club, the pride of the supporters who will come and watch and the pride of the team and their team-mates, so I am expecting us to turn up and deliver a good performance.”

Flanagan took over from Danny Cowley in the summer of 2015, leading the Beach Boys to a 10th place finish in his first season.

However, Concord have accrued 14 fewer points so far this campaign, in what has been a more challenging season for the former Brentwood Town manager.

And he says he is expecting a better season from Concord come the 2017/18 campaign.

“I am looking forward for the season to end as it has been a very challenging and draining season both physically and mentally for me,” he said.

“I am sure it has been the same for the players as well so I would like for us to finish strongly tomorrow and then regroup over the summer.

“This is ahead of what must be a significantly improved season next year.”
