BILLERICAY Town manager Glenn Tamplin says he expects Jamie O’Hara to get a four to six match ban following his altercation with a fan after a match last season.

The former Fulham midfielder lashed out at a Leatherhead spectator following a 3-2 defeat last month, a loss that ended Town’s play-off challenge.

O’Hara was fined by the club for the indiscretion, but the Football Association is now looking into the offence.

And Tamplin said he expects O’Hara to be banned.

“The FA are asking for a statement after they receiving the referee’s report,” he said.

“We will probably plead guilty with mitigating circumstances as Jamie was responding to what the fan did. We expect a four to six game ban.

“I have made a complaint as well after I was hit by one of the Leatherhead supporters, which the Ryman League is looking into.”

Tamplin added he would be meeting with Basildon Council representatives this week as he looks to secure the club’s long-term future at New Lodge.

The Town owner has a meeting with officials on Thursday, following preliminary discussions this afternoon, where the second phase of the application will be assessed.

Tamplin, along with solicitors Farrer & Co. Queens, will discuss options regarding purchasing the land and extending the current lease.

“I want to secure the land,” he added. “I am happy to buy it but we will have to see what happens.”
