GLENN Tamplin says Billericay Town's supporters can soon look forward to seeing their club on the box, after filming began on a new TV documentary.

Tamplin began filming at the AGP Arena, formerly New Lodge, on Tuesday.

The Channel 4 documentary will be filmed over the next three years, as the club looks to rise into the National League.

And the multi-millionaire said he was excited to grow the Isthmian Premier League side’s fanbase in the years to come.

“We started filming earlier this week and it is hugely exciting,” he said.

“It will be shown on Channel 4, although I am not sure yet when it will be broadcast.

“There will be around 10 hours of footage recorded over the course of the next season, and that will be over the next three seasons.

“The documentary will follow the progress of the club. I have said I want to get this team into the Football League and I intend to do that.

“We are making big steps, and are doing everything we can to make this the perfect day out for the family.

“We will have a VIP restaurant, a sweet store and food stalls in the ground from 11am.

“We want this to be an immersive family experience.

“There will also be a number of fans chosen to give their views on a regular basis, and they will of course be here on match days.

“But of course, getting results on the pitch is the main thing.”

Tamplin added he wanted to go on a prolonged FA Cup and/or FA Trophy run in the coming seasons.

One player who continues to be linked with the club is Ebbsfleet United midfielder Sam Deering.

Deering, who was voted man-of-the-match in Fleet’s National League South play-off final win last month, has been linked with a move to Town, who previously announced on Twitter he had signed before later deleting the tweet.

He is believed to have turned down a new deal at the Kent club, and is expected to link up with Town when his contract expires on July 1.

And Tamplin said he would be attempting to sign the 26-year-old.

“I will be speaking to Sam Deering on July 1 and making him an offer,” he said.

“I hope he accepts that offer.

“I met him through (Billericay defender) Joe Ellul, who has been friends with him for years.

“We have an advantage there but he has League Two sides after him as well.

“But I am very pleased with the squad we have and am looking forward to returning to training.”
