CONCORD Rangers manager Adam Flanagan admitted he was delighted to chalk up a first win of the season after just four days of term.
The Beach Boys beat Hemel Hempstead Town 1-0 on Tuesday, with Steve Cawley’s 50th minute goal the difference between the two sides.
It took Concord 10 matches to win their first National League South game of the campaign last year.
And Flanagan was relieved the wait wasn’t quite as long this time.
“Last year our first win was in September so it is nice to get one in our first home game this time,” he said.
“We want to improve our home form and we showcased the talent we had well against Hemel with some excellent play.
“We were resilient defensively which was something we needed to improve on, and we looked strong in other areas as well.
“I have a lot of belief in these players and it is up to the lads to take on the ethos we want to bring to the team and put in good performances.
“Anyone who watched this game would have been impressed by what they saw and that is very pleasing.”
