l THE MATCH: Bowers & Pitsea will become the first team to play a competitive game at Aveley’s new Parkside stadium when the season kicks-off tomorrow.

The £4.8 million structure is one of the division’s most advanced stadiums.

Bowers boss Rob Small is determined not to focus too much on the ground however, as his side look to secure a first league win over the Millers.

Bowers drew and lost against Terry Spillane’s team last term.

l THE INSIGHT: “I have been over and watched Aveley play and they have got a very nice stadium,” said Small.

“I believe it will be a harder match for us than it may be for other teams as, at this moment, Aveley are the only team that have played on it.

“From my experience, not one 3G pitch is the same, they have a different feel and characteristics. We have played on a few but they are all different.

“In some respects the fact it is the first game there is great and intriguing but it may not be helpful for us.

“It is a big game for them and that novelty will wear off in time so they might have a bit extra in the opening weeks.

“But I am confident and the proof will be in the pudding. Pre-season was good but how well it served us we will find out soon.”

l THE TEAM NEWS: Bowers will be without talisman Lewis Manor, although fellow striker Vlad Sighiartau is set to make his Isthmian League debut.
