CONCORD Rangers were beaten 2-0 by manager Adam Flanagan’s former club Dartford as they suffered a second defeat of the season.

The Beach Boys gave a good account of themselves in the first 30 minutes of the National League South encounter, although they were to fall behind before half-time.

Home captain Elliot Bradbrook finished off a swift counter-attacking move that had begun up the other end of the pitch.

Concord were struggling to create anything of note, although did force Deren Ibrahim in the home goal into a good early stop after half-time.

Into the second-half, it was a former Concord man that made sure of the result.

Lyle Della-Verde made sure of the win inside the final 10 minutes.

Billericay Town won their first match of term, leaving it late to beat Lowestoft Town on their travels.

Town had the lead inside 10 minutes of the Isthmian Premier League clash.

Jake Robinson, Billericay’s brightest player in Saturday’s reverse against Kingstonian, found space on the edge of the box and slammed home.

But five minutes later it was level. Jake Reed found space and flicked the ball past Alan Julian in the away goal.

Sam Deering saw a shot saved as Town looked to restore their lead but it remained level at the break.

Danny Waldren and Billy Bricknell were introduced at half-time, with the latter shooting over the bar shortly after taking to the field.

But it was proving to be another frustrating day for Town, until the winner came five minutes from the end.

Louie Theophanous found space in the box and sent a fine backheel into the corner to win the match.

Canvey Island threw away a 2-1 lead to go down 3-2 on home turf against Tilbury.

The Gulls had conceded a late deflected equaliser against Sudbury on Saturday and the same was to occur in the early stages against the Dockers.

Just three minutes had been played when Kurt Smith powered an effort at goal and, having taken a deflection, goalkeeper Conor Gough was unable to keep the ball out.

James Walker tested away stopper Clarke Bogard before the equaliser.

George Sykes played a dangerous ball across the face of goal and Smith, who had opened the scoring up the other end, could only divert the ball into his own net.

While the two opening goals had elements of fortune, the third of the evening was a moment of magic.

Ryan Charles sprinted forward from midfield and lashed a tremendous strike into the top corner on the run.

Sykes hit the post as the Gulls continued to press, with Mitch Gilbey rattling the frame of the goal shortly into the second-half.

Canvey were in charge, but could not hold onto the advantage.

Goalkeeper Conor Gough blasted a clearance straight into Adam Vyse and he tapped into an empty net with 15 minutes remaining.

And Smith turned the game on its head once again to put Tilbury ahead with five minutes remaining and earn all three points.

Bowers & Pitsea were comfortable 3-0 winners in the Isthmian North match-up.

Rob Small’s team were looking to end a rotten recent record against Witham Town, who had lost their opening game of the season.

Tim Moshenju had a golden chance to put the away side ahead after 20 minutes, but his penalty was sent high and wide.

What the Witham man failed to do, Tony Stokes made no mistake.

Ten minutes later, Bowers had a spot-kick of their own and Stokes blasted high down the middle to open the scoring.

Ryan Imbert was dismissed for Witham less than a minute into the second period to further boost Bowers’ chances.

And four minutes later Bowers had doubled their lead. Once again it came from 12 yards, as Stokes smashed the ball into the top corner.

Lewis Manor blasted home a third from 25 yards and that was how it stayed.
