BASILDON United suffered a shock defeat in the Essex Senior League as Woodford Town picked up all three points.

The Bees had come from behind twice to level, thanks to strikes from Marcus Bowers and Ash Blackburn.

But Woodford were to take the lead for the third time as Basildon fell to their first defeat since August 19.

Great Wakering Rovers were another top dog that came unstuck.

Iain O’Connell’s team were beaten 2-0 by Clapton, as they slipped up in their bid to bounce back to the Isthmian North.

Ikem Odeh and Jeffrey Cobblah scored the goals for the hosts as Wakering return to the drawing board.

Southend Manor were 3-1 winners against Sawbridgeworth Town as they continued their momentum from Tuesday’s excellent result at Braintree Town.

Ross Johnson put Manor ahead after 20 minutes, with Alfie Lindfield and Jacob Cleaver adding further goals before half-time.

Sawbridgeworth pulled a goal back after the break but it wasn’t enough.

Hullbridge Sports triumphed in their bottom-of-the-table clash against Hackney Wick, winning 3-0.

Luca Frankis scored the first after 10 minutes, with further chances before half-time coming and going.

Ollie Miller got the second 10 minutes into the second-half and completed his brace in injury-time to complete an excellent after for Rob Hodgson’s men.
