THE MATCH: Canvey Island will be looking to maintain their position at the Isthmian North summit when they take on AFC Sudbury tomorrow.

Danny Heale’s side are in a rich vein of form and George Sykes’ hat-trick at Witham Town allowed the Gulls to secure a 3-1 win last time out.

Canvey are on a superb run and have not tasted defeat since losing to Tilbury more than two months ago.

That has been the Gulls’ only reverse in the Isthmian North so far and the hosts will be looking to extend their 10 game unbeaten streak in the division when Sudbury visit the Frost Hire Stadium.

The two sides were relegated from the Isthmian Premier League last term, with a 2-2 draw on the final day of the campaign sealing Canvey’s fate.

And they met on the opening day of the current season, with a late goal giving Sudbury a share of the spoils.

THE INSIGHT: “We played them in the first game of the season and we should have come away with all three points,” said Heale.

“They scored a late free kick to take a point but this is a big game for us because we have a 10 day break afterwards.

“George Sykes is in great form at the moment and the other players are putting them on a plate for him.

“He is too good for this level and the fact he came back from Braintree in the summer shows what sort of club Canvey is.

“We like being top of the league and we’re looking forward to the game.”

THE TEAM NEWS: Jerrome Sobers is a doubt.
