BILLERICAY Town came from behind to claim a 2-1 win over Enfield Town and move to within three points of Isthmian Premier League leaders Hendon.

Under the guidance of Harry Wheeler and Danny Hazle in the absence of Glenn Tamplin, the hosts were able to extend their unbeaten run to nine matches in league action.

And while Billy Bricknell and Sam Deering were on target, Alan Julian also played a starring role as the goalkeeper saved a first half penalty.

The visitors were awarded a spot kick inside the opening 15 minutes, but Julian was equal to the effort to keep the match goalless.

However, Enfield were to take the lead 10 minutes before half-time as Taylor McKenzie's towering header found the back of the net.

Adam Cunnington sent a header just over the crossbar as Billericay went in at the break needing an improved second half performance.

Louie Theophanous was proving to be a menace and went close early in the second half, while Joe Wright brilliantly tipped a Danny Waldren strike around the post.

Just as the game ticked into the final 20 minutes, the home side were awarded a penalty of their own.

And unlike the visitors, Billericay were to take the chance as Bricknell got the hosts back on level terms.

Julian then made another impressive save to stop Enfield taking the lead for a second time.

And Billericay were to score the winner with four minutes remaining as Deering swept the ball home.

Billericay Town: Julian, Chambers, Konchesky, Evans, Swaine, Deering, Pennant (Walker 67’), Waldren, Theophanous, Robinson (Ellul 86’), Cunnington (Bricknell 56’)
