BASILDON United and Great Wakering Rovers’s managers have said three points are of paramount importance tomorrow as they look to keep up the pressure on the Essex Senior League leaders.

The Bees will be strong favourites at third-from-bottom Enfield 1893, despite losing 1-0 against Clapton in the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy earlier this week.

And boss Marc Harrison says his third-placed team must not get caught up in the pressure of their position.

“Results are very important at this time of the season,” he said. “The pressure will be on the top teams but it is very important that we approach the game in the right way and continue to take it game by game.”

Bees are boosted by the return of Joe Skeels, although Darren Phillips is a doubt along with goalkeeper Connor Wheatley.

Rovers chief Iain O’Connell takes his team to ninth-placed Ilford bidding to replicate last weekend’s 6-1 mauling of Tower Hamlets.

And he said the strength of his squad will be key in the weeks ahead.

“I am very happy with the results and even happier with the recent additions to the squad,” he said. “Nathan Dewberry is someone I wanted last season and his hat-trick last weekend was full of class and only the woodwork prevented him from scoring five!

“Ryan Doyle is an experienced centre-half who is very strong and composed. He made a great debut against Hackney Wick and will be a real influence in our bid for promotion.

“Ilford will be a very tough game, but our squad is getting very strong at the right time.”

Southend Manor are also on the road tomorrow, making the trip to West Essex.

Manager Adam Peek will be keen to replicate the recent 3-2 win at Wadham Lodge, although West Essex - eight points above Manor in the league - will be a tough nut to crack.

And Peek is in confident mood, having added several new faces to his squad this week.
