HULLBRIDGE Sports bounced back from a horrible first 20 minutes to secure a priceless result against Burnham Ramblers in their bid for Essex Senior League safety.

Darren Manning’s team scored four having trailed 2-0 to defeat Burnham to edge further clear of the drop zone.

Sports knew this clash represented a good chance to further their survival hopes but it didn’t go to plan in the first half.

Despite appeals for a handball in the build-up, Burnham were ahead inside eight minutes.

The lead was doubled 10 minutes later before Sports got back into the match.

Jimmy Cox reduced arrears before a fine last 25 minutes settled the match.

Adebola Sotoyinbo levelled matters and then scored his second five minutes later with a good finish from a Michael Salako cross.

The latter wrapped it up 10 minutes from time for Sports.

Great Wakering Rovers took another step towards the title with a 4-0 victory against Wadham Lodge.

Rovers were strong favourites to further boost their promotion credentials against Wadham Lodge and they looked good in the first 45 minutes.

Neil Richmond and Billy Johnson made it 2-0 at half-time, with Nathan Dewberry adding a third in the second period.

Bayley Newell rounded off an excellent afternoon for Wakering.

Basildon United were 4-0 winners on Friday night as Tower Hamlets were put to the sword at Aveley’s Parkside.

George Whitby got the first goal after 10 minutes before Jamie Brown doubled the lead shortly before the interval.

Jack Adlington and James Peagram completed the scoring.

Southend Manor drew 2-2 at Waltham Forest.
