Bowers & Pitsea are in the play-offs! Our win against Mildenhall confirmed that and what a feeling.

We have all worked hard this season to get here and we are in a position where we can build upon it.

In the summer I questioned whether a play-off finish was possible as there are some great clubs in this division.

We were way off the pace in the first half on Saturday. I had some choice words for the players at half-time but it was one-way traffic after that. I felt confident we would be better although they set up differently so our preparation went out the window. Their strikers caused us problems but we grew into it.

We used a mature approach. Twelve months ago we would have chased the game too aggressively too soon or forced it too much and we would have celebrated a good victory afterwards.

Now, we are not patting ourselves on the back and we are looking ahead to Heybridge the moment the last game was over.

David Knight deserves a mention for his contribution on Saturday. He needed to be left out against Dereham Town for a number of reasons but also because some guys need the fire reignited in their stomach now and again. He was magnificent when he came on against Dereham and in this match he was a class above.

We are without (suspended) Lewis Manor for the next three games which will delight Heybridge. But we are more than just Lewis and all we have built is based on the team.

The morning of the Mildenhall game I watched the highlights of Bowers v Hullbridge which won us the Essex Senior League and the whole place has transformed. I am very proud of where we are. but I am not satisfied.

Although we are in the play-offs, now I don’t want to be there. We have four games to win automatic promotion. Let’s go for it!
