BILLERICAY Town are set to have a new central defender in their ranks tomorrow when they host Harrow Borough.
With Tim Cole and Steven Heffer not yet quite ready for returns from injuries, the New Lodge side have snapped up Lynval Duncan.
He was impressive in Wednes-day night’s 2-1 home Capital League defeat by Harlow after playing for Leatherhead last term.
Tuesday night’s 1-0 win at Hendon represented Town’s first success on visiting territory this term and was also their opening away win.
It left Billericay handily placed with 10 points from six games and joint manager Jason Broom admits that it is a tally he is satisfied with considering Town’s early-season injury probelms.
“We certainly weren’t at our best for the whole game at Hendon, but to be honest I don’t think we have been for a complete match yet,” Broom said.
“But we were very strong in the opening half-hour before they came back strongly at us.
“Having said that, I was pleased with the displays of our central midfield players Leon Hunter and Paul Shave, while goalkeeper Jack Buckfield had an excellent night.
”With the early-season injury problems we’ve had we’ve got to be satisfied with our position and number of points we’ve picked up.”
In the midfield department skipper Jamie Dormer is still two or three weeks away from a return, while Matt Game needs another operation following complications in his recovery from last season’s broken leg.
With full-back Wayne Seman-shia now also sidelined with a hamstring problem, the signing of an extra defender will be a boost for the Blunts Wall Road outfit.
They face a busy schedule with a Premier trip to Tonbridge Angels on Tuesday being followed by the start of their FA Cup campaign tomorrow week when FC Clacton are the visitors.
