GREAT Wakering Rovers boss Iain O’Connell is hoping that a successful start to his side’s FA Cup campaign will help the club kickstart their domestic season.
The village side have picked up only one point in their first four League games, but disposed of Bedfont Green 4-0 at Burroughs Park in the Cup.
O’Connell rated left-sided midfielder Mark Cartlidge his side’s man of the match in his first game of the season last week.
But O’Connell knows that tomorrow’s hosts will also be boosted by their own FA Cup success in a replay with Potters Bar in midweek.
Wakering follow tomorrow’s match by hosting Tilbury on Tuesday and O’Connell admitted: “Our first qualifying round Cup tie with Thamesmead Town is only a week away.
“There’s £3,000 on offer that day after we won £1,500 last week and it would be great to go into that tie with a couple of league wins under our belt.”
