No cup of cheer as pair crash out


SOUTHEND Manor and Bowers & Pitsea both crashed out for the FA Cup at the preliminary round stage.

Manor hosted Brentwood Town at Southchurch Park and suffered a 4-0 defeat.

Anthony Ryan opened the scoring for Brentwood in the 19th minute and Ellis Remy netter a hat-trick with goals after 45, 64 and 76 minutes to wrap up the win.

Bowers travelled to North Greenford United and went down 4-3, with Craig Gillam (36), Ashley Hawkins (49) and Jordan Williams (80) on target for the visitors.

In the Essex Senior League, Hullbridge Sports drew 2-2 with Mauritius Sports Association at Lower Road.

Harry Clark put Mauritius in fron after two minutes but Sports levelled through Gary Paterson after 50 minutes.

Paterson put Hullbridge ahead 10 minutes later, but Marlon Agard ensure a share of the spoils with a 78th minute goal.

And in the League Cup Section D Basildon United stung Sawbridge-worth Town 4-0 at The Hive.

Leli Bajada put the Bees ahead in the sixth minute and Chris Lewis doubled the advantage from the penalty spot after 22 minutes.

Michael Amao (55) and Abiodun Bailey (77) netted in the second half to secure the points.

Tonight’s action sees Southend Manor host Hullbridge Sports, while Bowers & Pitsea host Basildon United in a New Town derby tomorrow night.
