THE arrival of Robert Snodgrass must feel like a dream for Andy Carroll.

The England international has been crying out for a good crosser of the ball for some time, and West Ham United have got one.

Snodgrass turned down the chance to join Burnley in order to secure a £10.2m move from Hull City to east London.

And Slaven Bilic will be delighted to have brought in a winger with Premier League pedigree.

It looks as though the wantaway Dimitri Payet will finally leave the club for Marseille, and it was important that Bilic brought in a replacement.

Snodgrass has all the attributes that will play to Carroll’s strengths.

The Geordie is formidable in the air, and two of Snodgrass’ strong points are his crossing ability and his dead ball delivery.

When Snodgrass gets on the ball, one of his first thoughts are to get the ball in the danger zone, and that is what West Ham need and what Carroll has been waiting for.

Payet liked to show off his skills and find the killer pass. Snodgrass just simply wants to create chances.

Aaron Cresswell is undoubtedly a good crosser of the ball from deep, but other than the left back, the Hammers have few players that find a man in the box regularly.

Michail Antonio will also be hoping to profit from Snodgrass’ deliveries.

The transfer window slams shut tomorrow and it is obvious that Bilic could do with bringing in another striker as Jonathan Calleri simply isn’t good enough and the likes of Carroll, Diafra Sakho and Andre Ayew have struggled with injuries.

Scott Hogan has been heavily linked with a move to the London Stadium for a number of weeks now but the Hammers obviously have some doubts over the player.

I think it is essential for an incoming striker to have Premier League experience at this stage of the season.

Southampton’s Shane Long, who is a tireless worker, would be a good cut-price option for a Hammers side growing in confidence.
