DANIEL Brooks took another big step in his career by making his first European Tour cut of the season in Morocco.

The 26-year-old from Basildon shot one-under par for a tied 32nd which earned him 12,000 euros at the Trophee Hassan II in Agadir, Morocco.

It is the first time Brooks has made the weekend’s action on the senior Tour since securing his card on last season’s Challenge Tour, and he said he was delighted.

“I played some nice stuff and but for a couple of bad shots I could have done even better, but if you make the weekend then you have to be playing well so I’m happy with that,” he said.

“But it’s just good to get four rounds under my belt, and now I need to build on this.

“I don’t make targets for myself this season because I don’t know what events I’ll get invites to, but I’ll probably play in three more before the re-rank before Wentworth.

“I know I can compete at this level and I just have to try and make the most of those opportunities and get some cash on the board.”

Brooks, a Mill Hill Golf Club member who also practices at Langdon Hills, will next be in action at the Open de España in Valencia on April 18.

Thorpe Hall’s Matt Southgate and Richard McEvoy also made the cut at the Trophee Hassan II at the Golf du Palais Royal.

Southgate finished on level par for a prize purse of 10,950, and McEvoy on plus three for 6,750 euros.

German Marcel Siem led from the start to win the tournament and all but confirm a debut appearance at the Masters at Augusta in a fortnight.
