BASILDON’S Daisy Dyer has chalked up her first professional tournament win after finishing joint first with former Curtis Cup player Sally Watson in the Paul Lawrie Scottish Ladies Open Tour 18 hole competition at Alyth Golf Club, near Blairgowrie.

Dyer and Watson both shot one-under-par 70s to earn £625 apiece in the event, the Scotts Atlantic Challenge tournament.

But Dyer pipped Sally for the winner’s bonus prize, a Taylor Made putter, with a better inward half of 36 to 37.

Dyer, who plays her golf at Chigwell Golf Club, turned professional earlier this year after a superb amateur career, in which she represented both Chigwell and Essex Ladies.

The former Essex Girls’ and Ladies’ Champion is making good progress in her professional career after a good first performance at the European Ladies Tour School at La Manga in January, just missing out on a coveted spot.

However, like many other professional sportswomen, Dyer is now looking for sponsors to help her realise her tremendous potential.
