THE LADY Captain’s day was a great success with good scores and a close result.

The winner with 39 points was 22 handicap Sheila Mayfield, the third time she has succeeded in getting her name on the trophy.

In second place, and only one point behind, was 12-handicapper Maria Barham.

This was the second year running that Barham has been edged out of the trophy by just one point.

Both first and second placed ladies have earned a handicap reduction of one shot.

There was also a real tussle for third place with four players all on 36 points but, after a lengthy countback calculations, 23 handicap Kay Dines took that spot.

In the afternoon, the ladies played a nine-hole Texas scramble and later settled down for a well-earned meal.
