BASILDON’S Daniel Brooks made his first cut on the European Tour since his maiden win at that level at the Portugal Masters – but couldn’t get back out on the course for his final two rounds.

Brooks finished two shots inside the cut on -4 after rounds of 68 and 70 at the Oceanico Victoria Club.

It was the first time he had qualified to play for the whole weekend in 15 attempts, since winning the Madeira Islands Open in May.

But the weather in Portugal ruined any hopes Brooks had of building on that solid star as the tournament was reduced to just 36 holes.

Over the course of the week, the course saw 75mm of rain which meant, despite the best efforts of the groundstaff, the tournament was decided on just two rounds.

The tournament was won by Frenchman Alexander Levy on -18.

Off the back of the result, Brooks moved up two places in the Race to Dubai rankings to 138th with a year’s total of 138,641 euros.
