BASILDON golfer Daniel Brooks finished five over par in the BMW PGA Championship, as he failed to capitalise on a good start.
The 29-year-old ended 14 shots off the winner Chris Wood, having made an impressive start at the Wentworth Club at the end of last week.
Brooks was just five points off the lead and four under par after three rounds in Surrey, having carded 71, 70 and 71 but a disappointing final round of 80, nine over par saw him finish down the leader board (293).
Matt Southgate, who excelled at the Irish Open just over a week ago as he secured a career-best fourth-place finish, also played at the Championship but failed to make the cut, as he sat 12 over par after two rounds of play.
