BRADLEY Bawden set a new course at Roachford Hundred Golf Club during Captain’s Day.

The Essex county player, who plays off plus one, hit a stableford score of 43 points.

He was followed by Lee Winsor (5) with 41 points.

Up-and-coming junior members filled three of the top four places at the midweek stableford Scott Spencer competition.

Chris Chaplin (4) took first place, followed by Connor Jury (11) with 40 points.

John Odeke (5) was the runaway Division One winner in the monthly Saturday medal with a nett 66. Chaplin continued his good form with nett 68 for second.

Andy Gilling (12) won Division Two on countback from Kim Skinner (7) after both carded a nett 70.

David Blunt (13) posted a nett 69 to finish two head of Terry Copping (14).

The final of the Thornton Cup will be a derby affair with Rochford Hundred and Boyce Hill locking horns.

The cup is the Essex Golf Union’s premier inter-club competition and the final takes place on Sunday at Braintree.

Rochford’s ladies played a 36-hole eclectic Peter and Paul competition. Amanda Colgate-Herbert (6) won the Peter Cup - for handicaps + to 18 - with an eclectic nett score of nett 68 from Lorraine Norris (17) with nett 69.

Carol Johnson won the Paul Cup - for handicaps 19-36 - with an eclectic nett score of 69. Sylvia Barty was runner up on nett 73.

The Silver Team beat Colchester 5-0 on Thursday and Chigwell 4-1 on Sunday.
